Weekend of Tunes

The Cape Breton Fiddlers' Association is committed to playing at many concerts, dances, and events in 2017.  An opportunity will be offered to those musicians who feel they would like some concentrated effort spent on the sets for 2017.  While many of the sets are familiar to you, you have not been formally played them as sets for a while, and some are brand new, such as Canada 150 set (first tune composed by Kinnon Beaton); Thanks so much, Kinnon!
We have asked the College to make Saturday, May 6th, available to us so we can accommodate those of you who wish to take advantage of this offer.  We will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.  There will be three or four instructors who will guide you through two sets each.  When you are comfortable with the first two sets, you will move on, etc.  This will be done in a very informal, relaxed atmosphere that you will enjoy.  Closing time will be late in the afternoon if you are not staying for the night, as some of us are!
This Saturday session is not geared for those who already know the tunes; it is for those who want to learn them at a slower pace.  Those who do know the sets are welcome to attend, but please realize the sets will be played at a slower pace, as mentioned.
This day was selected because it is the day before our first practice of the year!  Some of us are planning to stay the night at the College, and I hope some of you will join us! Think about this offer for a while.  It is a great way to learn new tunes, get to know each other better, and have a ceilidh in the evening on Saturday!
If you have any questions, please contact Betty Matheson.
